The short version: Thalia Care stores your care data on your device and may sync it privately through your Apple ID using iCloud. There is no Thalia Care account system, no custom Thalia Care servers, no ads, and no analytics trackers. Sharing and export happen only when you choose them.
Thalia Care is an independent iOS app that helps family caregivers organize handoff notes, medication schedules, behavior logs, appointments, documents, and related care details for a loved one living with dementia.
Questions about this policy: mtcombatmedic@gmail.com
Thalia Care does not operate a custom account system or custom backend that collects your care data.
We do not ask you to create a Thalia Care username or password. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location as part of a Thalia Care account.
Information you enter in the app — such as caregiver notes, medication lists, behavior logs, appointment details, documents you choose to store, and related care settings — is stored in the app’s protected storage on your iPhone or iPad. Supported records may also synchronize through your private iCloud / CloudKit account associated with your Apple ID.
Thalia Care does not use advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not collect the following for advertising or analytics purposes:
Thalia Care does not use location, contacts, HealthKit health data, background or always-listening audio, or third-party trackers.
Your care data is stored on your device. When iCloud is available and enabled for the app, supported SwiftData records may sync through your private iCloud / CloudKit container tied to your Apple ID.
Thalia Care does not use third-party servers to host your care data. Apple provides the device storage, encryption, and iCloud synchronization services according to Apple’s terms and privacy practices.
If you delete the app, local app data is removed from that device. Data that already synced to your private iCloud account may remain in iCloud until you remove it through Apple’s iCloud controls or by managing data while signed in. We strongly recommend keeping a device backup you control.
Thalia Care may let an owner invite another Apple ID to view or contribute to selected care records using Apple’s CloudKit sharing. Participation is voluntary and initiated by the owner. Shared data stays within Apple’s CloudKit sharing model for the participating Apple IDs. Thalia Care does not run a separate invitation or account service outside Apple’s sharing flow.
Thalia Care can use your camera to scan a medication label or barcode so you can add medication details faster. You review and confirm scanned details before saving.
If you choose to attach a photo (for example, a pill photo, profile photo, or memory photo), that image is stored with your care data on device and may sync through your private iCloud account like other supported records. Camera access is requested only when you use a feature that needs it.
Medication label and barcode scanning runs locally for caregiver review. Thalia Care may parse possible National Drug Code (NDC) values from a label or barcode, but it does not perform an FDA network lookup in the current product.
When you choose to dictate a care note, Thalia Care uses the microphone and Apple’s Speech framework to turn speech into text. Thalia Care stores the transcribed text, not an audio recording.
Depending on your device, language, and system availability, Apple may process speech recognition on-device or through Apple services. Thalia Care does not send voice recordings to a separate Thalia Care server or a third-party speech provider. Recording begins only after you tap the microphone control.
Thalia Care does not automatically email or message reports to caregivers, clinicians, or family members. Text, PDF, calendar, document, emergency-card, and backup sharing occur only after a user action.
Exports and shares are generated on your device. You choose the destination through iOS (for example Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files, or Calendar). We do not receive the contents of items you export or share.
JSON backups include structured care records and Memory / Bedside Mode photos. Document file contents, loved-one profile photos, and medication pill photos are excluded from backup; document metadata may be retained.
If you turn on medication reminders, Thalia Care may request notification permission so iOS can deliver local reminders on your device.
If you choose “Add to Calendar,” Thalia Care may request calendar access only to export that appointment. These permissions are requested when you use the related feature, not during onboarding.
Thalia Care may offer optional premium features or subscriptions through Apple’s App Store (Thalia Care Plus). All purchases are processed by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Apple provides purchase confirmation information needed to unlock features.
Information you enter in Thalia Care — about a family member’s health, behavior, and care needs — is deeply personal. Thalia Care is designed so that care data stays under your Apple ID’s device and private iCloud controls, not on custom Thalia Care servers.
Because Thalia Care does not operate a custom backend that receives your care records, Thalia Care is not a HIPAA-covered entity or business associate for that custom-backend purpose. You remain responsible for how you store, back up, invite others via iCloud sharing, and share exported reports.
Thalia Care does not integrate advertising, analytics, or data-broker SDKs. There are no SDKs from Facebook, Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar advertising/analytics platforms in the app.
The primary platform services involved are Apple’s: App Store / StoreKit, on-device storage, private iCloud / CloudKit sync and sharing, Speech recognition, Notifications, Calendar (when you export), and Camera / Photos picker (when you choose those features). Those services are governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
Security depends on your device passcode / Face ID / Touch ID, iOS file protection, and your Apple ID / iCloud account security. If your device is lost or stolen, protect it with a device passcode and consider Apple’s Find My and account recovery options. If you use iCloud sync or sharing, also protect your Apple ID.
Thalia Care is intended for adult caregivers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 through a Thalia Care account system, because Thalia Care does not operate one.
You control the care data on your device. You can edit or delete entries in the app, stop using optional features, leave or stop iCloud sharing where available, sign out of iCloud, or delete the app.
Because Thalia Care does not host your care records on a custom server, there is no separate Thalia Care cloud copy for us to access, correct, or delete on our end beyond what you manage on your devices and Apple ID / iCloud account.
If we update this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If the changes are material, we will notify you within the app when practical. Continued use of Thalia Care after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
